Walking Our Talk

Walking Our Talk   was designed by Building Bridges leaders to increase our mutual capacity to be accountable for putting our shared principles  4 PRINCIPLES HANDOUT into action, while building and strengthening relationships within and across organizations in our network. We offer the original workshop slides here:

Walking Our Talk-Putting the Building Bridges Principles into Action

Walking Our Talk is typically a 2 1/2-hour planning workshop for participants from organizations within the Building Bridges network, who preferably attend with at least one or two colleagues from their workplace. However, audiences do not have to have joined the network to participate.

We also customize the workshop for the board and staff members of individual organizations who may also want our assistance applying the principles to their programs’ workplans, including implications or objectives for individual staff roles.  That may require an extended workshop time or in some cases, meeting over 2-3 sessions.

As you may see from the pdf, we spend time making the case for each principle, and reflection on the personal cost of living in a society with systems and norms that create greater division and inequality as well as policies and habits that are heating the planet to catastrophic levels.

The workshop is highly interactive and the design invites people to reflect on the questions and generate their own goals and based on our adaptation of SMART Goals, to include making goals inclusive, equitable and sustainable.  SMARTIES!

SMARTIES GOALS are:

    1. Strategic,
    2. Measurable,
    3. Ambitious,
    4. Realistic,
    5. Time bound,
    6. Inclusive,
    7. Equitable,
    8. Sustainable.

Facilitators are skilled DCI Fellows and Building Bridges educators and activists.
