Vote!

Graphic of a dark blue ballot box with a white envelope going into a slot at the top, the word VOTE on the front of the box.

“Demos” (People) + “Kratos” (Power) = Democracy, the power of the people. If you believe your vote doesn’t matter, why are millions being spent to suppress our voting rights? Voting is governance by the will of the people.

In 1789, the “founding fathers” wrote the Constitution and granted the States the power to set voting requirements. The States limited the vote to 6% of the population: property-owning or tax-paying white males.
  • No indigenous people, no people of color, no women, no low-income or poor people, no people in servitude, no people in debt, no enslaved people and no children (the other 94% of the population).
  • If you believe your vote doesn’t matter, would it be ok with you if only white men with property could vote? How about only men? Or only wealthy men?
Democracy breaks if nobody votes. Use it or lose it.
  • When there is no voting, there is no democracy. Do you want to live in a dictatorship or a monarchy?
  • Refusing to vote, even in protest, is not revolutionary; it is surrender.
Dishonest people with awful ideas can get “elected” by the number of good people who didn’t vote.
  • Not voting is like giving an advantage to the candidates you really didn’t want.
Think your opinions are ignored? Fix that by voting. You’ll be invisible and unheard if you don’t vote.
  • Politicians and elected officials pay attention to the people who vote.
Voting is something bigger than yourself, it’s also your voice and the voice of your community.
  • If you don’t vote, you let yourself down by not expressing your will.
  • Don’t let your family or your neighbors down.
  • Don’t let your state or country down.
  • Don’t let your planet down.
