Our Vision is the full realization of a just and peaceful Beloved Community in which all people understand, respect, protect and exercise full human rights and participate effectively in making democracy work.
We believe that with a global community of human rights leadership, and a well-informed, inspired and motivated population, in the United States and elsewhere, the goal of human rights for all can be achieved.
More About Us→
Building Bridges
Building Bridges, a program of DCI established in 2011, grew from a community gathering of 120 leaders, educators and activists in Ithaca, with the goal of bridging those of us who were dedicated to social justice, and those of us who were dedicated to sustainability and climate change.
MOVE
Our film MOVE WHEN THE SPIRIT SAYS MOVE: The Legacy of Dorothy Foreman Cotton is the story of courageous Civil Rights leader Dorothy Cotton, who taught thousands their constitutional rights and the power of nonviolent direct action.
Vote!
“Demos” (People) + “Kratos” (Power) = Democracy, the power of the people. If you believe your vote doesn’t matter, why are millions being spent to suppress our voting rights? Voting is governance by the will of the people.
Know Your Rights!
All people have the right to know our human rights- “the inalienable, fundamental rights to which a person is inherently entitled simply because she or he is a human being.”
